An acquaintance of ours, Susan, is a long distance swimmer and a few years ago performed a long distance swim on Lake Cowichan on Vancouver Island. Susan has since performed many distance races on the coast of BC in cold ocean waters in support of Multiple Sclerosis. My wife paddled alongside Susan in her outrigger canoe acting as the safety boat for over 24 hours straight without a break until she could no longer sit in her boat. Susan kept swimming for several hours after that with a replacement safety boat, having never left the water during the entire swim!

This painting is a study painted some 10 or more years ago for another that I painted and we gave it to Susan.
